I’m obsessed with HGTV. On the rare occasions I have time to indulge in watching television, I find myself transfixed to the screen awaiting the final reveal of some newly renovated home. I will watch five or six episodes of #FixerUpper or #PropertyBrothers before I realize I should peel myself away and turn that evil T.V. off. LOL.
One of the reasons I like these shows is because my mind is enthralled with design. I’ve even said that I would like to come back as a famous interior designer in my next life.
While my coaching and design worlds may not seem related, I think they’re absolutely interconnected. There’s a synergy between my desire to support women in transforming and designing the life they desire and those design shows.
It’s a step-by-step process with a definitive outcome that leads to a dream home. Transforming your life is not that different. In fact, you may be able to transform your life quicker than some of these home renovations.
But seriously, transforming and designing your life is as strategic as a home renovation. Don’t you first have to have the vision in your mind of what you desire? And how many times does Jonathan Scott come across an unexpected problem in a wall he opened? What happens when a decision has to be made by the homeowner to take a different course of action to get to the final goal? How clear does the homeowner have to be about their desires before they start executing design plans to avoid costly mistakes?
How gratifying to watch old walls being torn down for new open concepts that invite in light and openness. And, then finally, after weeks, sometimes months, we come to the final reveal, which is always so gratifying. The final product, the renovated home, the home of the client’s dreams have been brought to fruition.
Maybe, this is why so many people love HGTV as much as I do. Because it’s all about growth, transformation, and manifesting dreams.
